About Vartan Malakian : In 1993 Vartan Malakian decided to open his Antiques and Art Gallery which was called Arka. The Los Angeles Times called Vartan Malakian’s gallery “one of the most unique” in 2001. Vartan has experimented with many different types of art forms including oil and water painting, mosaic glass art, three dimensional arts and more, even taking classes at an Art Institute to expand his knowledge of art and its different forms. As his son Daron Malakian progressed with his music carrier and SYSTEM OF A DOWN , Daron’s wish was to carry his father’s artwork onto the stage with him, prompting Vartan to handpaint several of Daron’s guitars, which can be seen in many of SYSTEM’s videos. Vartan Malakian has decided to release limited amounts of never-before-seen artwork. These pieces are 20 x 28 in size are all hand-made and framed by Vartan Malakian himself with a combination of chrome and transparent paper and they will all be personally signed by Vartan Malakian.
