The Doors – Self-Titled Debut Album – Signed by All 4 Members – Authenticated. The Doors – Self-Titled Debut Album Signed by All 4 Members. Jim Morrison. Ray Manzarek. Robby Krieger. John Densmore. Vinyl LP. Elektra Records EKS-74007. Stereo Repress. Front cover – all four signatures visible. Back cover with track listing and band credits. The Doors, circa 1967. Offered here is a landmark piece of rock and roll history: a copy of The Doors’ self-titled debut album (Elektra EKS-74007), signed on the front cover by all four members of the band – Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, and John Densmore. Each signature has been individually examined and authenticated as genuine. “The Doors” was released on January 4, 1967, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest debut albums in rock history. Recorded at Sunset Sound Recorders in Hollywood, California, and produced by Paul A. Rothchild, it features the landmark No. 1 hit “Light My Fire” along with the epic, eleven-minute “The End” – a piece that pushed the boundaries of what a rock song could be. This is a stereo repress on the Elektra label, manufactured by Monarch Record Manufacturing Co. The album has been a cornerstone of classic rock since its release and has been certified multi-platinum. It was ranked No. 42 on Rolling Stone’s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” list. Morrison signed vertically in black ink on the middle left of the cover. Densmore signed in blue ink to the lower middle left. Krieger signed in black ink on the lower left, above Manzarek’s signature. Manzarek signed in blue ink at the bottom left of the cover. The variation in ink colors – two in black, two in blue – is consistent with the signatures being obtained at the same signing session with different pens in circulation. Died July 3, 1971. Age 27. Paris, France. Died May 20, 2013. Age 74. Rosenheim, Germany. Two of the four Doors are now deceased – Jim Morrison passed away in 1971 at just 27 years of age, and Ray Manzarek died in 2013 at 74. With only Krieger and Densmore still living, an album signed by the complete original lineup is an exceptionally rare find. Any item bearing the authentic signature of Jim Morrison commands tremendous value on its own; the debut album signed by all four Doors together is among the most coveted items in rock memorabilia. Break On Through (To the Other Side) (2:25). 2. Soul Kitchen (3:35). 3. Twentieth Century Fox (2:30). 5. Alabama Song (Whisky Bar) (3:15). 6. Light My Fire (6:50) Side Two 1. Back Door Man (3:30). 2. I Looked at You (2:10). 3. End of the Night (2:49). 4. Take It as It Comes (2:13). 5. The End (11:35). This album and all four signatures have been professionally examined and authenticated. The examination was conducted on November 27, 2021, under certification number GFAA-21739. Each member’s signature was individually analyzed against known authenticated exemplars across multiple forensic criteria including style, line quality, slant, size, proportion, spacing, base alignment, stroke characteristics, and idiosyncratic features. All four signatures were found to be genuine and authentic. Morrison and Krieger signed in black ballpoint pen. Densmore and Manzarek signed in blue ballpoint pen. Both ink types are consistent with instruments commonly available during the time period when the album was in circulation and the signers were available to sign. Certificate of Authenticity – GFAA-21739. Below are the complete forensic examination reports, ink & document analyses, signature exemplar comparisons, and examined item photographs for each of the four members’ signatures. The Doors were formed in Los Angeles in 1965 by UCLA film students Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek, joined by guitarist Robby Krieger and drummer John Densmore. They signed to Elektra Records in 1966 and released this self-titled debut in January 1967, featuring the No. 1 hit Light My Fire. The album spent more than two years on the Billboard charts and established the Doors as one of the most electrifying acts in rock music. Morrison’s poetic lyrics, commanding baritone, and volatile stage presence – combined with the band’s unique keyboard-driven sound with no bass player – made the Doors unlike anything else in popular music. Over five years, Morrison and the Doors recorded six studio albums that became cornerstones of rock history. After Morrison’s death in Paris on July 3, 1971, the surviving trio recorded two more albums before disbanding in 1973. Hi-res cameras at the location will also confirm your identity. This is a truly museum-worthy piece for any serious rock collector: an original copy of The Doors’ self-titled debut album, signed by all four members-Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, and John Densmore. Released in January 1967, this album launched The Doors onto the world stage and became one of the defining records of the psychedelic era, pairing dark, poetic lyrics with a powerful, organ-driven rock sound. The iconic cover image of the band, with Morrison looming in the foreground, becomes even more striking with all four signatures, turning a classic LP into a once-in-a-lifetime centerpiece. The Doors formed in Los Angeles in 1965 and quickly became one of the most influential bands of the late 1960s. Their music blended rock, blues, jazz, and psychedelia with lyrics that explored themes of freedom, sexuality, death, and transcendence, making them a central symbol of the counterculture. They pushed boundaries on stage and in the studio, from extended improvisations to controversial television appearances, and songs like “Light My Fire, ” “Break On Through, ” and “The End” helped define the darker, more introspective side of the Summer of Love. Their impact on pop culture has endured for decades, inspiring countless bands, shaping the visual aesthetic of rock, and influencing films, books, and fashion that draw on the mystique of the 1960s. The Doors’ debut album is often ranked among the greatest rock albums of all time and captures the band’s sound fully formed. It opens with “Break On Through (To the Other Side), ” a driving statement of intent released as the band’s first single; while the song only reached No. 126 on the Billboard charts, it became a concert staple and a classic rock mainstay. The album’s breakout hit, “Light My Fire, ” was released as a single in an edited form on April 24, 1967 and became a massive success, spending three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the summer of 1967 and helping establish Elektra Records as a major label. Jim Morrison, the band’s vocalist and lyricist, stands at the center of The Doors’ legend. Born in 1943, he brought a deep, resonant voice and a poet’s sensibility, drawing on literature, philosophy, and his own visions to craft lyrics that were sensual, cryptic, and often provocative. Morrison died in Paris in 1971 at the age of 27, joining the so-called “27 Club, ” and his autograph is among the rarest and most sought-after in music collecting; having it on the band’s groundbreaking first album makes this piece extraordinarily valuable. Ray Manzarek, born in 1939, was the band’s keyboardist and the architect of much of their sound, using Vox organ, piano, and keyboard bass to fill the space normally occupied by a bassist. On The Doors’ debut his organ lines drive “Light My Fire, ” color “Soul Kitchen, ” and create the eerie atmosphere of “The End, ” giving the album its unmistakable sonic identity. Manzarek remained a tireless champion of The Doors’ legacy for decades, performing the music live, collaborating with other artists, and telling the band’s story in interviews and books until his death in 2013 at the age of 74. His signature alongside Morrison’s confirms this album as a complete document of the original lineup at their starting point. Robby Krieger, born in 1946 and now in his late 70s, is the guitarist whose inventive, often understated playing helped make The Doors unique. Influenced by flamenco, blues, and jazz, he wrote or co-wrote many of the band’s biggest songs; “Light My Fire” was largely his composition and became the group’s signature hit, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and staying there for three weeks in 1967. His guitar work throughout the debut album-from the solos on “Light My Fire” to the textures on “End of the Night” and “The End”-balances melody and experimentation, and he has continued to record and perform in the years since, remaining an active musician and a living connection to these sessions. John Densmore, born in 1944 and now in his early 80s, was the drummer who gave The Doors their dynamic rhythmic foundation. Drawing on jazz and world-music influences, he brought a sense of drama and elasticity to the band’s songs, from the tight drive of “Break On Through” to the shifting, tension-filled patterns of The End. After The Doors ended, Densmore became an author and an outspoken guardian of the band’s legacy, carefully choosing how their music is licensed and often reflecting on the moral and artistic choices they faced, which has reinforced the band’s image as more than just hit-makers. His autograph completes the set on this album, making it a fully signed artifact from one of rock’s most important groups. An original “The Doors” debut album signed by Morrison, Manzarek, Krieger, and Densmore brings together the band’s music, imagery, and myth right at the moment their story began. The combination of a No. 1 single like “Light My Fire, ” a now-classic track like “Break On Through, ” and an album that helped define the sound and mood of 1967 makes this LP historically important on its own; adding all four signatures turns it into a true cornerstone for any high-end Doors or classic-rock collection. For fans of psychedelic rock, the 1960s counterculture, or legendary debut albums, this is a rare opportunity to own a piece of rock and pop-culture history that very rarely comes to market. Hi-res cameras at the location will also confirm your identity. 4 This is the only way we know to ensure against claims of loss or theft. Must clear out inventory before April 15. All serious, reasonable offers considered. Please check out our other vintage autographed memorabilia listings.
